1 Overview
Sufratuna ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile application that captures audio from cooking videos playing on your device, transcribes the spoken recipe, and saves it for your personal use. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your information is handled.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Sufratuna, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2 Information We Collect
Audio recordings: When you tap the record button, the app captures audio from your device microphone (or system audio on supported Android devices). This audio is processed to produce a text transcription. The audio is stored temporarily on your device and is deleted after transcription is complete.
Recipe data: The transcribed text and any recipe details you save (title, ingredients, steps, timers) are stored locally on your device or in your private cloud database. This data belongs to you and is not shared with other users.
Usage analytics (optional): If analytics is enabled, we may collect anonymous usage data such as screen views, feature usage frequency, and crash reports to improve the app. No personal identity is attached to this data.
Device information: We may collect limited device information (OS version, app version) for compatibility and troubleshooting purposes.
3 How We Use Your Information
- To transcribe audio into text recipes and save them for you
- To display and organize your saved recipes with timers and reading features
- To improve transcription accuracy and app performance
- To diagnose and fix crashes and technical issues
- To understand which features are most used, so we can prioritize improvements
4 App Permissions
Sufratuna requests the following device permissions to function:
- Microphone: Required to capture audio from the cooking video playing out loud. The app only records when you actively tap the record button.
- Notifications (Android 13+): Used to show a foreground service notification while recording audio in the background.
- Display over other apps (Android): Allows the floating bubble overlay to stay visible on top of the video player so you can control recording without switching apps.
- System audio (Android 10+): When available, the app captures the video's audio directly from the system for cleaner transcription. This is optional and only used when you choose it.
The app does not record audio in the background without your knowledge. Recording only starts when you explicitly tap the record button, and a visible indicator is shown while recording is active.
5 Local Storage & Database
Your saved recipes are stored on your device using a local database. If you have signed in with an account, your recipes may also be synced to a secure cloud database tied to your account. This data is private to you and is not visible to other users.
Temporary audio files are created during recording and are automatically deleted once transcription is complete. No audio is retained after the transcription process.
7 Data Sharing
We do not share your personal data or saved recipes with any third parties except:
- As necessary to provide the app's core features (e.g., sending audio to the transcription service)
- When required by law or to respond to legal requests
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with notice to you)
8 Data Retention
Audio recordings: Deleted immediately after transcription is complete.
Saved recipes: Retained on your device until you delete them. If synced to the cloud, they remain until you delete your account.
Analytics data: Aggregated and retained for up to 14 months, then automatically deleted.
9 Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view all your saved recipes within the app at any time.
- Delete: You can delete individual recipes or all data by uninstalling the app. Cloud-synced data can be deleted by removing your account.
- Opt out of analytics: Analytics can be disabled in the app settings or device privacy controls.
- Withdraw permissions: You can revoke microphone, notification, and overlay permissions at any time in your device settings.
10 Children's Privacy
Sufratuna is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
11 Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data using industry-standard encryption and security practices. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
